My Mom got this mink fur hat for Christmas,and I don’t know what to do! I think it’s wrong!?

Well you could always express your concern to her again, or you could have your dad or someone else try and help you talk to her….. If it’s more people than just you she might listen more, and if she doesn’t listen then well you can’t do much because it is her hat…

Get some information and picture about the mink fur industry together and give her a brief presentation on the subject. Educate her. Once she knows all the details, even if she dosnt change her mind, it wont be because she dosnt knowthe facts.

You aren’t going to change her mind about it. You can keep bothering her, but she’ll probably only get upset. Just ignore it. Just stick to your own morals. Imagine if she got the hat and every day tried to make you get one just like it, explaining how great it is to kill animals for fur, you’d HATE it. So I’m sure she wont enjoy it.

I’m with you though, I would be pretty upset. Maybe you could compromise, and ask her from now on to only get fake fur.

okay the animal’s already dead. i love animals and don’t like people killing them, but seriously! It’s her hat, but you should tell her not to wear it around you since it makes you uncomfortable. I’m against wearing the fur of animals also.

And to the person who said that owning leather makes you a hypocrite, not exactly. You obviously have no idea what goes into making a piece of clothing made from fur versus one made from leather. The mink is a relatively small animal so more of them need to be killed in order to create a piece of clothing. Cows are bred in large numbers and are also much larger. Get your facts straight before you start calling names like a first grader.

well when it comes down to it, it’s really her decision, and you have to respect that. but i understand what you mean and i think i would feel the same in that situation. you can’t do anything about her final decision, but you can, however, get her to care more so she understands you better and also so she’ll know for the future. the best way to convince people is by supporting your argument with some facts, so go do some research and explain to her exactly what it is that’s bothering you, but make sure to not make her feel guilty about it. just tell her that you don’t expect her to necessarily change her mind, and that you respect her decision, but this is what you feel and you and hopefully she can remember that in the future, or at least consider it as an option. hope i helped!
